While Vidya Balan will soon be seen in the role of the late Telugu actor-politician NT Rama Rao’s wife Basavatarakam in the upcoming biopic NTR, a report by Mumbai Mirror suggests that the actor has her eyes on portraying mathematical genius Shakuntala Devi. Popularly known as the ‘human calculator’, Devi was known for her impressive ability to memorize and compute numbers in record time, a talent which earned her a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1982. She also wrote several books on arithmetic, puzzles and astrology during her lifetime.

Bangalore-born Shakuntala Devi was a math whiz who made it to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The film is to be directed by Anu Menon and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The publication has quoted a source as saying, “Vidya found the story really inspiring when Anu approached her but is yet to sign the project. Anu has researched a lot for the film which is currently in the final stages of scripting, following which the team will start on an extensive prep. The film is likely to roll sometime next year.”

Vidya will also be seen alongside Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu in Mission Mangal.
