Shah Rukh Khan is at the 60th San Francisco Film Festival and the city couldn’t be more excited. During a session with filmmaker Brett Ratner at the festival, the superstar spoke about why he does what he does and what Bollywood can learn from Hollywood.
Brett Ratner then asked SRK about adapting Hindi films for a global audience and how he thinks that could be done.
The audience cheered loudly at this point, until Brett’s next question, which left the Raees actor a bit stumped. Ratner tossed an idea to SRK and the audience, about him playing a white man in a Hollywood film, which goes on to reveal his Indian identity, a bit like Peter Sellers in The Party (1968).
While Shah Rukh took a moment to process the question, the audience was dead against it and trashed Ratner’s idea right away.
A fan in the audience asked Shah Rukh Khan how he pushes himself through his bad patches, and how he copes with the lows. SRK’s answer was as usual, inspirational.
SRK joked about hugging each and every person in the audience saying that “your ticket includes a free hug”. He left his fans with his signature ‘Ammi jaan’ dialogue from Raees.
