According to a report by DNA, Chhattisgarh-based Sona Beverages Co Ltd has filed a suit for trademark infringement against Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan-starrer Simmba. The company has claimed that the film infringes on its registered trademark ‘Simba’ which is used for a variety of its products that range from bottled water to alcoholic drinks as well as the "manufacture, distribution and sale of merchandise including apparels, playing cards, glasses, note pads and various other forms of accessories". It has been in use since 2015.

The Delhi High Court has directed production house Rohit Shetty Picturez to respond to the notice sent by the company at the earliest and to “ explore the possibility of an arrangement being entered into”. A failure to do so would result in a hearing set for 4 December.

Simmba is set to hit theatres on 28 December.
