The trailer for the Vivek Oberoi starrer-PM Narendra Modi, a biopic of the prime minister and BJP leader was launched on Thursday, 21 March. Twitter reactions have begun to flow in and not everyone is taking kindly to what looks like a white washed recap of Modi’s life with Vivek unable to pull off an accurate impression.
Vivek’s casting as the prime minister received the majority of flak with many questioning his acting skills.
Vivek’s much publicised “9 looks” from the film became a meme.
Then the reactions to the actual trailer began with jokes about the bombastic tone.
The most common reaction was that the garish looking trailer might end up hurting the BJP in the elections.
Even South star Siddharth joined in the fun.
People noted that demonetization was missing from the many events shown in the trailer, but drew connection with a line from it anyway.
Then the memes went into top gear!
The film has actor Vivek Anand Oberoi in and as PM Narendra Modi, actors Boman Irani, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Zarina Wahab, Barkha Sengupta, Anjan Shrivastav, Yatin Karyekar, Ramakant Dayma, Akshat R Saluja,Jimesh Patel and Darshan Kumaar in key roles.
PM Narendra Modi is set to hit the big screen on 5 April, a week before the nation goes to poll for general elections.
