‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’ Showcases Empowered Women: Ananya Panday

Ananya Panday, who recently made her Bollywood debut with Student of the Year 2, is currently prepping for her next release Pati, Patni Aur Woh. Starring Ananya Panday, Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar, the film is a remake of BR Chopra’s 1978 film of the same name. Opening up about the female characters in the film, Ananya explains the relevance of her and Bhumi’s characters.

Ananya also spoke about how the new film will be different from the old one, especially in its treatment of women characters.

Talking about the relevance of such an old story today, Ananya said, “The generation of that decade could relate to it, and today's generation will associate with our version of the film.”

BR Chopra’s Pati, Patni Aur Woh is a humorous take on extra marital affairs. It follows the story of a man who lies to his secretary that his wife is terminally ill to gain her sympathy and get closer to her. His plans are foiled when his wife finds out about his deceit. The remake will be revisit the story with a modern twist.

She further added that the characters have evolved and the representation will be much different.

Ananya also spoke about how the new film will be different from the old one, especially in its treatment of women characters. “In the past women didn’t have such strong character. In our film, Bhumi and I have prominent roles,” said Ananya.

She further added that the characters have evolved and the representation will be much different. She said, “Our characters are more developed (than those in the original)(You'll see that) through our dialogues as well. Showcasing empowered women is inspirational.”

The new Pati, Patni Aur Woh is directed by Mudassar Aziz. It is produced by Juno Chopra and Abhay Chopra. It will hit theatres on 6 December.

Recently, Ananya had shared a poster of the film. She wrote, “Yeh Agneepath hai! Isse koi paar nahi kar paya!!! (This is agneepath! No one has been able to cross it)“
