Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was honoured with the 77th Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award Lifetime Award on Wednesday, 24 April.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat presented the award to Khan at an event in Mumbai.

Actor Helen and National Award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar were the other recipients of the prestigious award this year.

The awards, titled ‘Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan Awards’, are held annually on the occasion of Master Deenanaths's death anniversary.

The Mangeshkar family has been honouring Master Deenanath Mangeshkar’s death anniversary for the past 75 years, and it became public in 1988 with the awards ceremonies, reported The Indian Express.

In 2018, Asha Bhosle had been conferred the award for life achievements, while Anupam Kher received a Special Award in light of his contributions to cinema and theatre. Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan was also conferred an award.
