US Immigration Officials Arrest Grammy-Nominated Rapper

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Grammy-nominated rapper 21 Savage, saying he was illegally present in the country, according to an agency spokesperson. ICE spokesperson Bryan Cox said on Sunday that the rapper, whose real name is Shayaabin Abraham-Joseph, is a citizen of the UK, CNN reported.

The agency has alleged that he entered the US legally in July 2005, when he was a minor, but subsequently failed to depart under the terms of his non-immigrant visa. His visa expired in July 2006, according to the ICE.

After he was arrested in Atlanta on Sunday, "Abraham-Joseph is presently in ICE custody (in the city) and has been placed into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts", the agency said in a statement. "ICE will now await the outcome of his case before a federal immigration judge to determine future actions."

An attorney for Abraham-Joseph said his representatives were working to secure his release. "We are working diligently to get Abraham-Joseph out of detention while we work with the authorities to clear up any misunderstandings," Dina LaPolt told CNN on Sunday night. "Abraham-Joseph is a role model to the young people in this country, especially in Atlanta, Georgia, and is actively working in the community leading programs to help underprivileged youths in financial literacy."

Abraham-Joseph was also convicted on felony drug charges in October 2014 in Fulton County, Georgia, ICE said. The rapper features on the song "Rockstar" by Post Malone, which was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Rap Performance for the upcoming Grammys.

'Gully Boy' Ranveer Performs at Lakme Fashion Week

Ranveer brought the house down at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 here on Sunday as he rapped live while walking the ramp with his "Gully Boys" gang to showcase a unique fashion line, GullyGen. He, along with rapper Naezy and other artistes, sang "Asli Hip Hop" and "Apna Time Aayega" from the yet to release film.

Fashion label LoveGen collaborated with Gully Boy to create the menswear line GullyGen. Ranveer sported a jumpsuit, sweatshirt and cap as he walked -- or rather pranced around -- the ramp.

While the show had street art adding colour to the backdrop, Ranveer ensured his magic goes beyond the ramp. He made an impromptu appearance at the DJ station and sang away, leaving the audience ask for more. To top it all, he jumped into the crowd, attempting a crowdsurfing of sorts, much to the delight of his fans.

At the event, Ranveer was also accompanied by Gully Boy director Zoya Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani. On the unique coming together of a film and a fashion show on the ramp, Ranveer said: "I loved it. It is the first time that any of movies had merchandise turned right." The film is releasing on 14 February.

She looked glamorous in an off shoulder, fitted dress as she sashayed down the stairs, with the iconic central facade of Sophia College, which has been featured in several films, as the backdrop for the show.

The designers, who marked their first time at the LFW grand finale, showcased their line Recruit SS'19, aiming to highlight the evolution that has led to the emancipation of the millennial Indian woman. A brief video before the show highlighted achievements of women like Kareena, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, Alia Bhatt and Dia Mirza among several others.
