First Poster of Huma Qureshi's 'Leila' Dropped

Netflix has dropped the first poster of the upcoming dystopian series Leila, starring Huma Qureshi in the lead role. Leila is directed by Deepa Mehta.

Earlier, the OTT platform had released the first look teaser of the series and announced the release date as 14 June. The six-episode series follows Shalini (Huma), a mother in search of her daughter Leila whom she lost one tragic summer. Leila is based on Prayaag Akbar’s book of the same name.

Ayushmann's Film 'Article 15' to Open London Indian Film Festival

The annual London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) announced its 10th anniversary line-up on Sunday, with the world premiere of Anubhav Sinha's Article 15 opening the gala on 20 June.

The film's title, which features Ayushmann Khurrana, is a reference to an article of the Indian Constitution that prohibits discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, race or sex.

The 2019 edition of LIFF will include 25 feature films, covering 11 South Asian languages and six UK premieres. The event, which will run till 8 July, will include guest filmmakers such as Anurag Kashyap and Gurinder Chadha and close with the English premiere of Ritesh Batra's Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra-starrer Photograph.

'Kabir Singh' Trailer Released

The trailer for Kabir Singh is out. Directed by Sandeep Vanga, the film is a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. It stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani and hits theatres on 21 June.

First Time in 10 Yrs, India Missing From Cannes Film Festival

The 72nd Cannes Film Festival kicks off on Tuesday with India missing from the official selection for the first time this decade. The last time the world's largest movie-producing nation drew a blank in Cannes was in 2009.

The 2019 edition of the 12-day festival, beginning on 14 May, will open with the screening of Jim Jarmusch's zombie satire The Dead Don't Die, one of 21 titles competing for the Palme d'Or.

However, three former students of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) will ensure India’s peripheral presence at the event.

Diana Penty to Debut at Cannes Film Festival

Actor Diana Penty will make her debut at the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival, and she is thrilled about it.

She will be a part of the film gala as part of an association with vodka brand Grey Goose, which is celebrating victories of Indian cinematic talent through its new global platform Live Victoriously.

"India has seen great recognition and appreciation at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in recent years. I am excited to be invited by the brand to be part of the event this year and I look forward to celebrating the experience with the global icon of luxury in the country of its origin," Diana said in a statement.

Apart from Diana, Kangana Ranaut and Huma Qureshi will be seen at the Cannes red carpet for the brand this year.

Rohit Shetty Ropes in Abhimanyu Singh as 'Sooryavanshi' Villain

Actor Abhimanyu Singh has been cast as the antagonist in Rohit Shetty's cop drama Sooryavanshi, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead.

Abhimanyu, who has started shooting for the film, said his character is "unpredictable and deadly".

"It's an interesting role. Akshay sir and I have known each other for a while now and it has been a great shoot from the first day. It was a serious scene and we had to complete it in a day, which we did.

Abhimanyu made his big screen debut with the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra-directed 2001 supernatural-thriller "Aks" and was more recently seen in the Sridevi-starrer Mom.

Doris Day, Last of Hollywood's Golden Stars, Dies at 97

Legendary actor Doris Day, last of the stars to represent the golden era of Hollywood and gave voice to the classic "Que sera sera (whatever will be, will be), has died. She was 97.

A popular screen icon of her era, Day ruled the industry in the 1950s and '60s with her films such as Pillow Talk, That Touch of Mink and The Man Who Knew Too Much, breathed her last Monday at her Carmel Valley home in California, US media organisations said quoting her animal welfare foundation.

IFFI's Golden Jubilee Poster to Be Launched at Cannes

At the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, which will get underway in the French Riviera on Tuesday, an Indian delegation will launch a special poster for the golden jubilee edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), spread awareness about the single window clearance facility in India and push co-production opportunities.

Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will lead the delegation comprising Cesnor Board Chairman Prasoon Joshi and acclaimed filmmakers Rahul Rawail, Shaji N. Karun and Madhur Bhandarkar, according to a statement by the Press Information Bureau.

The India Pavilion at the gala will showcase Indian cinema across linguistic, cultural and regional diversities, with the aim of forging international partnerships in distribution, production, filming in India, script development, technology, promoting film sales and syndication. It will be set up by the Information Ministry in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci).

Ranveer, Pritam Team up to 'Make an Anthem'

Composer Pritam and actor Ranveer Singh have teamed up to "make an anthem" for filmmaker Kabir Khan's directorial '83.

"My first film with the powerhouse Ranveer and I'm so glad to be back with Kabir Khan! Super thrilled to be creating music that can match their level of madness," Pritam tweeted on Monday.

Kabir and Pritam have already worked on films like New York and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Sharing an image of the three on Twitter, Ranveer captioned it: "We got an all-star. Pritamda, it's an honour to be collaborating with you on '83'. Let's make an anthem! Let's make it iconic."

'83, presented by Reliance Entertainment, will tell the story of India's 1983 cricket World Cup victory.

'This Is Us' Renewed for Three More Seasons

Actress-singer Mandy Moore's This Is Us has been renewed for three more seasons.

NBC on Sunday announced that the network has renewed its hit drama series This Is Us. The renewal will take the show through its sixth season, aiming to wrap up in 2022, reports people.com.

The show's creator Dan Fogelman tweeted: "Three years ago, we were live tweeting the premiere of our TV show, hoping someone, anyone might watch."

Fogelman, who shared a photograph of stars Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Justin Hartley, added: "Today our friends at NBC picked up 'This Is Us' for three more seasons, bringing us to six."

The news of the renewal is also a bittersweet reminder that the hit series, which is aired in India on Star World, will most likely end at season six.

The show focuses on the Pearson family though multiple generations and time periods.

Surveen Chawla Shares First Image of Her Newborn Daughter

Actress Surveen Chawla, who gave birth to a baby girl Eva last month, shared a photograph of the newborn on Monday on social media.

Surveen took to Instagram to share the picture and wrote: "To love... I know now."

Dressed in a flared long gown, Surveen looks like an angel while holding her daughter in her arms.

Within seconds, the mother-daughter duo's photograph grabbed the attention of social media users, including Surveen's friends from the film industry.

Author-filmmaker Tahira Kashyap found the picture "gorgeous", while actress Rubina Dilaik left a heart emoticon on the post.

Actress Tisca Chopra commented: "Took my breath away."

Surveen tied the knot with Akshay Thakker in 2015 but kept the wedding a secret till December 2017. The couple was blessed with their daughter on April 15.

A few days later, Surveen even took to social media to announce the arrival of Eva by sharing a photograph of her "tiny feet" among her followers.

"We now have her tiny feet to fill the tiny shoes! Blessed by her wonderful arrival in our little family! Welcoming our daughter Eva," she wrote.

Surveen is known for her acting stint in TV shows like Kahin To Hoga and Kaajjal. Most recently, she has appeared in web shows Sacred Games and Haq Se.
