CBFC's Scissors 'Very Small Thing' for Balasaheb Thackeray, Says Sanjay Raut

Producer Sanjay Raut, who is looking forward to the release of his forthcoming venture 'Thackeray' -- based on life of late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray -- has said the Central Board of Film Certification's scissors "is a very small thing" for the veteran Maharashtra leader.

Sanjay Raut was interacting with the media at the music launch of 'Thackeray' along with film's presenter Viacom 18 Motion Pictures COO Ajit Andhare, actors Amrita Rao, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, music composer Rohan-Rohan and Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray on Saturday in Mumbai.

Earlier, there were reports that CBFC has raised objection to three scenes and two dialogues in 'Thackeray'.

The CBFC had reportedly objected to a particular Babri Masjid scene and another dialogue 'Yandu Gundu' which has been used against the South Indian community staying in Mumbai, reports IANS.

Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Super 30’ Gets a Release Date

Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 will release on 26 July, the actor has announced. The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, who has been accused of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement, tells the story of Anand Kumar. Kumar taught 30 meritorious and talented candidates each year from economically backward sections for the entrance examination for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Bala Saab Was Never an Anti-Muslim Man: Sanjay Raut

Politician and film producer Sanjay Raut, who is also the writer of the forthcoming film "Thackeray" based on Bal Thackeray, says that though there is a perception that the late politician was "anti-Muslim", it is not true.

The producer was present along with the cast and crew of the film for the launch of the song album here, reports IANS.

Asked if Thackeray disliked and maintained a distance from the Muslim community, Raut told the media: "Bala saab was never an anti-Muslim man. He was a true patriot. He was one of those lovers of the nation and people's person that never allowed caste and religion to come in between…

"People asked us why we cast Nawazuddin (Siddiqui) bhai as saab in the film. I would say that this is the biggest salute from us to the ideology of Bala saab. Also, note that Nakash Aziz sang the title song of 'Thackeray' because we believe that saab kept merit beyond religion.

Filmmaker Karan Johar reads up everything being written about him on social media, and says he finds strength from the praise and the criticism.

"All the praise, all the criticism somewhere makes you stronger. I read a lot of criticism and wake up to abuse sometimes and wake up to the nasty things they write about you but some of the things they write are actually true," Karan said.

"When they criticise you, they are coming from some place of information that you must have also about yourself. Hence, it's important to read the good and the bad and sometimes just turn your face from the ugly," he added, reports IANS.

The filmmaker expressed his way of handling social media while talking to actor Shahid Kapoor and his brother Ishaan Khattar during an episode of "Koffee with Karan" season 6, read a statement.

Nargis Fakhri has taken to social media to lash out against a media publication which speculated about her being pregnant, and urged them to check their facts as well as not body-shame people.

“Take this down. @TheLive_Mirror your reporter published lies and not only that, he has also body shamed a person that may actually be suffering from an illness. Get your facts right before you publish," Nargis wrote after the website claimed that she is expecting her first child with Matt Alonzo.

Filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta to Be Honoured With Lifetime Achievement Award

National award-winning filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta will be handed the Lifetime Achievement Award here by the West Bengal Film Journalists Association (WBFJA), according to a release.

Dasgupta will be honoured on January 13 in the third edition of the ‘Cinemar Samabartan' ceremony. The award is in the name of the late Satyajit Ray.

Dasgupta is a big name in the parallel cinema. He is known for his political films like "Dooratwa" (Distance) and "Grihajuddha" (Crossroads), reports IANS.

'RAW' to Release on April 12

Actor John Abraham-starrer "Romeo Akbar Walter" ("RAW") will be releasing on April 12.

Actor Sikander Kher, who will be playing John's nemesis in the movie, tweeted: "From the horses mouth... 'RAW' to release on April 12. Get your spy glasses on."

A tweet from the official Twitter account of Viacom18 read: "Viacom18 Motion Pictures, KYTA Productions and VA Film Company announce the release of its upcoming espionage thriller, 'Romeo Akbar Walter' (RAW) on April 12, 2019.

"The film is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, KYTA Productions and VA Film Company. 'RAW', based on true incidents is written and directed by Robbie Grewal."

The film also stars Mouni Roy.

Netflix Hit With Lawsuit Over '...Bandersnatch'

The publisher of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" book series has sued Netflix, alleging that the film "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch" infringes on its trademarks.

Netflix is facing a $25 million lawsuit filed by the publisher in a federal court on Friday, reports variety.com.

The film debuted last month on the streaming service. Like the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, the film allows viewers to direct the character's action, leading to a variety of possible endings.

Chooseco LLC, the Vermont-based publisher of the book series, alleges that Netflix deliberately exploited the brand awareness of its book series to launch the show, reports IANS.

Pat Boone's Wife Dead

Shirley Boone, the wife of legendary 1950s singer Pat Boone, has died. She was 84.

Shirley passed away peacefully on Friday morning at the pair's home in Beverly Hills after suffering complications from vasculitis, which she had contracted less than a year ago, reports people.com.

In her final moments, Shirley was surrounded by her husband of 65 years and the couple's four daughters, Cherry, Lindy, Debby and Laury, all of whom were by her bedside singing hymns to her as she passed on, reports IANS.

‘Uri’ Box Office: Vicky Kaushal-Starrer Gets Strong Start

Uri: The Surgical Strike opened to mostly positive reviews on 11 January and, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, got a “flying start” at the box office. The military drama earned Rs 8.20 crore on its first day and is expected to continue to do well over the weekend.

'Jab We Met' Actor Kishore Pradhan Passes Away

Veteran actor Kishore Pradhan passed away on Friday, 11 January. He was known for playing comic roles in Hindi and Marathi films. His Hindi film credits include Lage Raho Munnabhai and Jab We Met, in which he played a station master. His dialogue in the latter - “Akeli ladki khuli hui tijori ki tarah hoti hai” - in a scene with Kareena Kapoor became popular.

Pradhan has also acted in over 100 Marathi theatre plays, and about 18 English plays. He was last seen in Marathi film Subh Lagna Savdhaan.

Kartik Aaryan Roped in for 'Pati, Patni Aur Woh' Remake

Bareilly Ki Barfi producer Juno Chopra is set to remake grandfather BR Chopra’s 1978 film Pati, Patni Aur Woh. Mumbai Mirror reports that Kartik Aaryan has been cast in the role originally portrayed by Sanjeev Kumar.

According to a source who spoke to the publication, the premise of the film will be similar to the original though it will be given a modern avatar. The film is expected to go on floors by February.

The film will be a modern adaptation of the original and Sara is likely to essay a role similar to Karishma’s. The film is expected to go on floors in July and the makers are reportedly aiming for a festive release in 2020.
