Rakesh Roshan Discharged From Hospital; Ready to ‘Begin Again’

The ‘Krrish’ director is set to undergo surgery.

Hrithik Roshan has been keeping fans updated about his father Rakesh Roshan’s health since the actor-turned-filmmaker was diagnosed with throat cancer. The Krrish director has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing surgery. Hrithik shared a picture of Rakesh Roshan, mother Pinkie and himself leaving the premises. “Cant stop. Wont stop. We begin again. And again,” he wrote.

Hrithik brought in his birthday on 10 January with his family in the hospital where his father was recovering from surgery.

Hrithik took to social media on Tuesday, 8 January, to break the news that his father Rakesh Roshan has been diagnosed with cancer. He shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram with a picture of himself and his dad posing together at the gym. The post said that his father was diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago.

Rakesh Roshan underwent surgery for the same that day. In a statement to Mumbai Mirror, his brother music director Rajesh Roshan said,

“He is better now and recovering well. We were all very tense about the surgery and the entire family was in hospital with him. God willing, he will be up in the next three days and should be discharged from hospital.”

“Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldn’t miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him. Love you dad,” posted Hrithik.

Rakesh Roshan has acted in over 80 films through the 70s and 80s. He made a name for himself as a director with movies like Karan Arjun, Koi Mil Gaya, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and the superhero series, Krrish.

His daughter, Sunaina Roshan, is a survivor of cervical cancer.
