Kartik Aaryan Bags Lead Role in Akshay’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ Sequel

Amidst speculations as to whether Kartik Aaryan will star in the Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequel, it has now been confirmed that he has agreed to come on board. Kartik, who kicked off Bhushan’s remake of BR Chopra’s 1978 drama Pati Patni Aur Woh, will play the lead in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

“The idea has been locked but the script is yet to be finalised. Kartik Aaryan loved the idea and has decided to come on board. Once the director is locked, the leading lady and the rest of the cast will be decided”, a source told Mumbai Mirror.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa released in 2007 and starred Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in lead roles. It was directed by Priyadarshan, and starred Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel in supporting roles. Bhool Bhulaiyaa was an official remake of Rajinikanth’s 2005 film Chandramukhi. Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja play a couple who decide to stay in their ancestral home despite being warned of ghosts on the premises. Supernatural occurrences force him to call on the help of his friend, a psychiatrist, played by Akshay.

The idea has been locked but the script is yet to be finalised. Kartik Aaryan loved the idea and has decided to come on board.

Previously, a report by Mumbai Mirror said that producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series had registered the title Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The report said that film will be helmed by Farhad Samji, who has directed Housefull 3 and Housefull 4 and is a writer for the upcoming remake of Coolie No 1 with Varun Dhawan, Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, Baaghi 3 and Laxmi Bomb. However, the director for the film is yet to be locked as of now.

Kartik has a number of films in his kitty, right from Pati, Patni Aur Woh to the recently announced Dostana 2, opposite Janhvi Kapoor. He and Sara Ali Khan have just wrapped up the shoot of their untitled film, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The actors took to Instagram to share pictures from the wrap up.
