Alia Bhatt is all set to star in Meghna Gulzar’s espionage thriller, Raazi. According to reports, Alia has been signed on to play Sehmat, a Kashmiri woman who marries a Pakistani officer (to be played by Vicky Kaushal) with the intention to source out intelligence details and pass it off to Indian forces.
Majority of the film will be shot in Kashmir and Punjab; and a small part of it in Mumbai. Alia took to Twitter to share her excitement on signing on the project.
Vicky Kaushal, who made waves with his performance in Masaan, is also honoured to be a part of the project.
Raazi is produced by Karan Johar and Junglee Pictures. The film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s book, Calling Sehmat.
Calling Sehmat is a brave account of a Kashmiri woman who married an officer from across the border so she could provide the Indian intelligence with invaluable information during the Indo-Pak War of 1971.
Talking about her film, Meghna told Mumbai Mirror,
Raazi is slated to release in 2018.
