So go ahead chop your tresses off and feel liberated or take inspiration from these actors who’ve had no qualms about going bald.
Ranveer Singh: Bajirao Mastani
Ranveer Singh shaved off his hair for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. Now that’s a big deal for Ranveer. Here’s why – Ranveer is considered to be self-obsessed and can be found staring into the mirror for hours (well, that’s a bit of an exaggeration) and his hair is his prized possession. If you ask any of his co-stars, they’ll tell you how possessive the actor is about his mane. Now you know why it’s such a big deal.
Shahid Kapoor: Haider
We all know that Shahid Kapoor went bald for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider. Shahid is reportedly as narcissistic as Ranveer (do visit Shahid’s Instagram account and you’ll get the picture), and doesn’t let anyone near his hair unless he completely trusts them. So who better than Vishal Bhardwaj to sacrifice those lovely locks for? And the gamble sure paid off, just look at all those awards Shahid grabbed for his performance in Haider.
Aamir Khan: Ghajini
Aamir Khan is known to go the extra mile for his films, so it came as no surprise when the perfectionist went bald for his action thriller Ghajini. What came as a surprise was that the Ghajini hairstyle became a style statement among youngsters who began trimming their hair to get the Aamir look.
Sanjay Dutt: Agneepath
Sanju Baba sported a bald look for the 2012 remake of Agneepath. The bald pate surely gave him a very mean and nasty look which was perfect for the baddie Kancha Cheena’s role.
Shabana Azmi And Nandita Das: Water
Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das chopped off their tresses to play widows in Varanasi for Deepa Mehta’s Water. The film unfortunately did not take off due to protests and the two actresses were later replaced by Seema Biswas and Lisa Ray.
Tanuja: Pitruroon
Veteran actress Tanuja went bald for the Marathi film Pitruroon (2013) in which she played a widow. According to the director Nitish Bharadwaj, it took him exactly 5 minutes to convince Tanuja to go bald for the role.
Arjun Rampal: Ra.One
Now this hunk looks good in anything so when he went bald for Ra.One, Arjun Rampal just ended up looking hotter. Like Sanjay Dutt, Rampal too decided to sport the bald look to add a mean streak to his role as a villain. No wonder then that people wanted more of the villain than the hero of the film.
