In the run-up to the upcoming Rajasthan elections, a BJP candidate allegedly promised that there will be no hindrance to child marriages if she is voted into power, The Times of India reported on 3 December.

Sojat Returning Officer Ayub Khan has issued a notice to Shobha Chauhan, seeking an explanation over the alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct ahead of the election.

A video of Chauhan purportedly making this remark was doing the rounds online.
