Ahead of Rajasthan Assembly elections on 7 December, the state police department has urged residents to vote in the crucial polls – with the help of Bollywood-inspired graphics and dialogues.
Borrowing from 2007 Bollywood film Om Shaanti Om, the Rajasthan Police’s 14 November tweet reads:
"Ek chutki sindoor ki keemat Ramesh babu jaane ya na jaane, par hamare voters jaante hain ki democracy ki shaan hota hain ek vote. (Ramesh babu may or may not know the value of sindoor, but in a democracy, our voters know the value of each vote)."
This isn’t the first time Rajasthan Police has invoked popular culture to make a point.
In other tweets, the force has also highlighted the importance of “fair elections” and posts denouncing rigging attempts and violence during the polls.
