T'gana Cong Leaders Hold Fast Urging Rahul Not to Resign

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) general secretary Bollu Kishan and former MP V Hanumantha Rao observed a day-long fast here Thursday, urging Rahul Gandhi to continue as party president.

The fast was held in the premises of Gandhi Bhavan, Congress headquarters in Telangana.

Speaking at the end of the fast, TPCC president and MP-elect N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party needed the leadership of Gandhi at this crucial juncture.

"...The well-wishers and sympathisers of Congress party would be about one crore in Telangana. Through this fast, all of us are making only one appeal, in one voice, to Rahul Gandhi ji. Your leadership is needed to the country and party at this crucial juncture," Reddy told the gathering.

Karnataka Congress legislators have agreed to abide by the decision of the party high command on a cabinet expansion or reshuffle, a senior party office-bearer said on Thursday, 30 May.

"The consensus among the MLAs is to abide by the high command's decision on expanding or reshuffling our ministers in the cabinet, party's state unit President Dinesh Gundu Rao told reporters after a meeting in Bengaluru.

In the 34-member ministry, the Congress has 21 ministers under its quota of 22 in the one-year-old coalition government, while its ally Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) has 12 cabinet posts of which 10 have been filled.

Kumaraswamy Meets Rahul, Asks Him Not to Quit as Congress Chief

Karnataka Chief Minister and Janata Dal-S leader HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi and requested him not to give up his party post following the Congress party's rout in the Lok Sabha elections.
