India's COVID-19 tally on Wednesday, 26 August crossed the 32 lakh-mark with 67,151 new cases in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 case tally in the country now stands at 32,34,475 including 7,07,267 active cases, 24,67,759 cured/discharged/migrated and 59,449 deaths.

India has exponentially scaled up its testing to 10 lakh per day in August, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

As the testing has increased, there has been a steady decline in the positivity rate in India, a Union health ministry official said at a briefing on Tuesday.

India Scaled Up Testing to 10 Lakh Per Day in August, Says Govt

India has exponentially scaled up its testing to 10 lakh per day in August, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

“India has exponentially scaled its testing from one in January to 10 lakhs/day in August 2020. With Positivity Rate progressively falling, testing has worked as an effective tool to limit the spread of COVID-19 infection,” the ministry tweeted.

3.76 Crore Samples Tested Till Date

The total number of samples tested up to 25 August is 3,76,51,512 including 8,23,992 samples tested yesterday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

Delhi CM To Hold Meeting Over Rising Cases

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has called for a meeting today over the increase in number of COVID-19 cases. Delhi Health Minister and other officials will also attend the meeting.

3,018 New Cases in Telangana

At least 3,018 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Telangana on 25 August, taking the total number of cases to 1,11,688.

Padmanabhaswamy Temple Openes for Devotees

Padmanabhaswamy temple opened for devotees after it was closed in March due to COVID-19 induced lockdown. Devotees will be allowed inside the temple from 8 am to 11 am in the morning and from 5 pm till the time of Deep Aradhana in the evening.

Number of COVID-19 Recoveries Exceed Active Cases by 3.5 times: Govt

“The number of recoveries in India today exceeds the active cases by 3.5 times,” the Press Information Bureau informed on 26 August.

“The single day recovery figure has been more than 60,000 since many days. Recovery of 63,173 COVID-19 patients in the last 24 hours has resulted in the cumulative recoveries of 24,67,758 people. This has contributed to the rapidly widening chasm between the number of percentage recovered and percentage active cases further.”

Mamata Announces 'Complete Lockdown' Dates For September

2,476 Fresh COVID-19 Cases In Kerala

2,476 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in Kerala on Wednesday, 26 August. The total numbers of active and recovered cases are 22,344 and 41,694 respectively, the state government said.

5,958 Cases Recorded In TN, 1,290 In Chennai Alone

A total of 5,958 COVID-19 cases were reported in TamilNadu, of which 1,290 cases were from Chennai. At least 73,631 persons were tested and 5,606 patients discharged.

Delhi Continues To Report Spike In COVID-19 Cases

Delhi recorded a total of 1,673 fresh COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths on Wednesday, 26 August.

14,888 new COVID-19 cases and 295 deaths reported in Maharashtra on 26 August. The total number of positive cases now stands at 7,18,711 including 5,22,427 recoveries and 1,72,873 active cases, said that state health department.

530 New COVID-19 Cases In Uttarakhand

530 new COVID-19 cases reported in Uttarakhand on 26 August. The total number of cases in the State now at 16,549 including 11,524 recovered, 4,749 active and 219 deaths, said the state health department.
