Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has tested positive for COVID-19. He took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to announce his test results.

Earlier, the Centre announced that India saw a single-day spike of 48,916 positive cases and 757 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) there are currently 4,56,07 active cases across the country, while 8,49,43 patients have been cured or discharged, and one has migrated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate three new laboratories of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in Noida, Kolkata and Mumbai on 27 July via video conferencing.

Record 4.2 Lakh Samples Tested in Last 24 Hours

India recorded highest-ever more than 4.2 lakh COVID-19 tests in a single day, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. Nearly 1.6 crore samples have been tested so far. There is a sharp decline in Case Fatality Rate to 2.35%.

6,988 COVID Cases in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu reported 6,988 new COVID-19 cases and 89 deaths today, ANI reported. The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 2,06,737 including 1,51,055 recoveries and 3,409 deaths. There are 52,273 active cases as of today.

523 New Cases in J&K

At least 523 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir today -156 from Jammu division and 367 from Kashmir division - ANI reported. The total number of cases stands at 17,305 including 7,483 actives cases, 9,517 recoveries and 305 deaths.

1,103 New Cases in Kerala

At least 1,103 new COVID-19 positive cases and 3 deaths have been reported in Kerala today. There are 9,420 active cases in the state now. The death toll stands at 60, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

468 New Cases in Punjab

At least 468 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Punjab today. The total number of cases now stands at 12,684 including 4,096 active cases, 8,297 discharged cases and 291 deaths.

716 New Cases in MP

Madhya Pradesh reported 716 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths today, taking the total number of cases to 26,926 including 799 deaths and 7,639 active cases.

9,251 New Cases in Maharashtra

Maharashtra reported 9,251 new COVID-19 cases and 257 deaths today. The total number of cases in the State rises to 3,66,368 including 1,45,481 active cases and 2,07,194 discharged cases.

2,404 New Cases in West Bengal

At least 2,404 new COVID-19 cases and 42 deaths reported in West Bengal today. The total number of cases now stands at 56,377 in the State including 19,391 active cases, 35,654 discharged cases and 1,332 deaths.

5,072 New cases in Karnataka

Karnataka reported 5,072 new COVID-19 positive cases and 72 deaths. The total number of cases in the state stands at 90,942 including 1,796 deaths.

Punjab Govt Schools to Not Charhe Admission Fees and Tution Fees from Students

Government schools in Punjab will not charge any admission, re-admission and tuition fee from students for the 2020-21 academic session on account of the COVID-19 crisis, the Punjab Government ordered, as reported by ANI.
