At Quint Hindi and Google’s ‘Bol - Love Your Bhasha’ event, stressing on the importance of bringing in reforms within the system, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told The Quint’s Editorial Director Sanjay Pugalia how his ‘Safai Abhiyaan’ impacted government offices.

According to Gadkari, there are several old and outdated acts in the system which are still being followed. After resuming office, he removed several such acts throughout his ‘Safai Abhiyaan’.

I made a pile of all the old acts and asked my secretary to remove them. I removed all the outdated acts. Modi ji asked all the departments to do so. Three trucks full of rubbish went out from the government offices. It won’t be right for me to reveal how much trash came out from which minister’s department. There is a need for reforms in every sector. These reforms are for our benefit only.  Laws, bills and acts have a system. We have chosen a democratic process. Obviously, there will be difficulties. It is up to the political leadership to get the reforms instituted in the shortest possible time.
