Just days after China's state news agency Xinhua released a bizarre video with racist overtones on the Doklam standoff, it now seems to be adopting a more 'formal' approach, having published a video which pushes for a "sober, cooperative solution" to resolve the tension.

Unlike the 'Seven Sins' video which featured a turbaned and bearded man with a heavy accent and seemingly trying too hard to be funny, the latest clip - released under the 'Talk India' series - has an anchor explaining the standoff in a pretty straightforward way, albeit placing the blame on India, and asking it to "immediately and unconditionally withdraw all troops from Chinese territory".

To emphasise on the need to resolve the standoff, the video also ventures into the history of contact between the two sides - "stretching back to the ancient times". And the anchor even concludes the video with a line that is so unlike the usual rhetoric China has been engaging in for the last few months, saying:

After all, there is more than enough room in Asia for the “Chinese Dragon” and the “Indian Elephant” to dance together.

Now, is this “sober” approach the product of all the backlash it faced for the racist video?
