A Hindustan Times story said that the current PM of Ireland Enda Kenny might step down in March after a controversy erupted within the Irish police force. An officer alleged that influential people got away with serious charges levelled against them.

A poll conducted by Claire Byrne Live suggested that Varadkar was supported by 35 percent of respondents while Housing Minister Simon Coveney received 23 percent.

It was in 2015 when he spoke publicly about being gay.

“It’s not something that defines me... I’m not a half-Indian politician, or a doctor politician or a gay politician for that matter. It’s just part of who I am, it doesn’t define me, it is part of my character I suppose,” he said in a radio interview.

Varadkar has been in a relationship with Matthew Barrett, a doctor.
