The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau once again came out in support of minorities by observing the first fast of the Islamic month of Ramzan on 7 June. Canada is clocking one of the longest fasts in the world this year at over 16 hours (sunrise to sunset), but clearly the Prime Minister wasn’t daunted even a wee bit.
Trudeau tweeted about the iftar, the meal at sunset which marks the end of the fast for the day:
While world leaders sent their best wishes to fasting Muslims all over the globe, Justin Trudeau took it a notch higher.
On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish all those observing this holy month a blessed and peaceful Ramadan. Earlier in May, Trudeau also became the first sitting Canadian Prime Minister to raise the Pride Flag from Parliament Hill in Ontario.
