The intellectual Godzillas of BJP stomp along mightily, crushing unbent heads and institutions. On Sunday, Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh warned students and professors of the Jadavpur University (JU) that he will thrash them so hard they will forget the names of 14 generations of their forefathers. It is not clear why he said he will take off his shoes while doing so (juto khuley marbo/juta kholkey marunga), when typically one does not do so when ministering a beating. He also called Kanhaiya a lumpen.

He was nice enough to say that he will thrash them if they dared to step out of JU. One reason for such gentlemanly conduct may be that JU is a Left bastion in a Left locality. Given this, students would have to step a long way out of JU, all the way to UP maybe, before Ghosh can make good his promise. A few days ago he’d said that ‘anti-nationals’ will be shortened by six inches — from the top, meaning he will behead them. His hit-list includes actors, musicians and academics. After beheading them, he will kick them all the way to Bangladesh.

Let’s not get into how Mr Ghosh would achieve this with a headless human.

Given that he is from a cultural organisation called the RSS, he must have meant this metaphorically – and his position is at odds with the Party line. Besides, considering how Bangladesh is doing much better than Bengal on many socio-economic fronts, many Bongs may not terribly mind washing up there, dead if not alive, at least for a better life in the after-life.

As well as better hilsa.

The Bengal BJP boss seems to dwell in some apocalyptic wonderland by way of B-grade action films. Get this: ‘Friends… Now there is Modi. So he is blasting away anyone who is either a Maoist or a terrorist. Bodies are falling. They are being counted and taken away.’

Clearly, Mr Ghosh seems to have lost his head. We must send him across the Bengal border – to Ranchi. There is a famous Institution there – the Central Institute Of Psychiatry.
