A spoken word poem discussing how women are neither your mission, Goddess nor cause.

I'm not your mission.
Don't try to find me a cure.
And make me pure.
And pull me out of pubs.
And steal my dancing shoes.
And squeeze alcohol out of my system.
And my freedom to make my own decision.
So that you win your election.

I'm not your Goddess.
Don't throw dying flowers on my face.
And ask me to act with grace.
And dress me in your favourite colours.
And shackle me to your pedestal.
And stake your claim.
And campaign in my name.
And stop treating me like I'm human.
So that you win your election.

I'm not your cause.
Yes, I'm distressed, but you don't pretend.
How can you help when you don't comprehend?
I don't need your saving.
Maybe some support
but what you're looking for will not be bought.
When you're the ailment, how will you be the antidote?
All you're after is my vote.
I want security and not your toxic protection.
While you just want to win your election.
