Just moments before he was mauled down by a running Audi SUV, 21-year-old Corporal Abhimanyu Gaud of the Indian Air Force was busy training his contingent of men for the Republic Day parade.
Allegedly, the white-coloured SUV being driven by the son of a senior TMC leader hit Gaud, dragging him to some distance, eventually killing him due to heavy loss of blood.
In the video, we see the Audi zipping past on the left side of the contingent. One of the marchers missed being hit narrowly. It goes to hit Gaud straight, startling the rest of the officers. The contingent scatters.
Gaud was taken to the Command Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The driver in a breach of discipline broke the barricade and hit the IAF staffer. He is still absconding.
