Aamir Khan’s next release Dangal based on Mahavir Phogat, reveals how he fought the rigid taboos in Haryana to train his daughters to make them world-class wrestlers. People laughed but that didn’t stop Mahavir Phogat or his daughters.

And at just 22, Geeta Phogat went on to become the first India’s first ever athlete to win gold medal in women’s wrestling, in the 55 kg freestyle category at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

With the background voice of a Haryanvi man talking about why women can’t do ‘dangal’, this JWS Steel ad released in January 2015, perfectly depicts a part of what Geeta Phogat and her family must have gone through to achieve all that she has today.
