Despite his aggressive style, Sehwag was more of a Test specialist than an ODI batsman. But he still managed to create lasting memories especially in the 2003 and 2011 World Cups.
His onslaught on a rampant Umar Gul in the 2011 World Cup semi-final was perhaps set the tone for India. Indian cricket and its fans therefore deserved to see a bit more of Sehwag. But as an ecosystem we don’t know how to bid farewell to our heroes.
It was always a bit unfair to Sehwag because despite his exploits he was never co-opted as a member of the Fab Four of his era.
Now, as he bids good bye let’s do him a favour by expanding the club to Fab Five. Sadly, that club has closed forever and a glorious chapter in Indian cricket has ended.
