Self defence for women today is no longer about studio classes, where you practice orchestrated moves with one another. Today, it is about preparing women for the realities of an up-close encounter – that can be unpredictable and violent. In situations like these, you have only seconds to retaliate – attack, stun, incapacitate your assailant and flee.

Here are a few moves from teachers at the Knockout Fight club. The teachers say these moves, which make you queasy today, could save your life tomorrow.

Only use them responsibly, and with proper training.

The ‘C-choke’

Grab the trachea and squeeze. It will knock the attacker unconscious in ten seconds. Must use very responsibly.

The ‘Eye-scoop’

Use two fingers to poke the corner of the eye socket. This will knock the eye out.

The ‘Dog-ear’

Pull the attacker’s ear with your teeth and shake your head like a dog tearing its food

I know the ‘Creep Technique’ is creepy but I wont hesitate to use it. We are not new to rapes and attacks on women and as a retaliation I see no reason not to use it.
