Living within an urban cocoon – as we do – and being fed stories of a smartphone boom often makes us forget that not everyone is privy to the same indulgences.
Pandey ji, a guard at our office, is a classic example of said disparity. In fact, while he’s gone about his daily duties, he has often wondered what The Quint does. Nand Kumar Singh (Pandey Ji), knew we are a digital news platform, but he had not the faintest idea of what that actually meant.
He knew what a smartphone was, but he couldn’t afford one.
We decided to help out the best way we could – empower him with the tools of a growing, booming digital India. We decided to hand him a smartphone.
Motorola India offered to help. And as a part of their gratification programme, they sent us a Motorola Moto E Second Gen smartphone for Nand Kumar Singh.
