BJP leader Pankaja Munde conducted a massive rally on Dussehra in central Maharashtra. The Maharashtra minister addressed a huge crowd at the foothills of Bhagwangad.
Bhagwangad is the spiritual and political centre of Vanjaris, an influential backward community. She was joined by 3 ministers from the community who vowed their support for her.
Former minister Eknath Khadse also showered praise on Munde. The rally is seen as Munde’s attempt to project herself as the leader of all backward communities of Maharashtra.
OBCs joining hands is important as Marathas are mobilising, demanding reservation. However, many also see this as an attempt to challenge the position of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in state unit of BJP.
