Veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal has expressed his disagreement with the decision of returning national awards by some people in the industry. He said if filmmakers have a problem with the government and not the nation, then why return these awards?
Surely you have to raise your voice against religious intolerance, I don’t disagree with that, but returning theses awards is not a solution. If you are going to fight the government, fight it on democratic terms.— Shyam Benegal, Veteran Filmmaker
