1. The Wild West of Uttar Pradesh: Rise of the Hindu Fringe

The Quint travelled to the interiors of the state to meet members of these groups, their sympathisers and young Hindu recruits who are being trained and indoctrinated in this emerging brand of religious extremism. We sought to understand their psyche, question their inspiration and document their modus operandi.

2. Father of the Indian Constitution, Dr Ambedkar, Wanted to Burn It

The Indian government decided to declare 26 November as Constitution day, the day when it was adopted in 1949, months before it came into force on 26 January 1950, celebrated as Republic Day. Prime Minister Modi categorically noted that the declaration was not only aimed at generating awareness about the Constitution, but also about Dr Ambedkar.

But did you know that the Father of the most detailed and wordy Constitution wanted to burn it?

3. Virat Kohli’s India Sweep Test Series, Top 5 Moments From Day 3

R Ashwin used his deadliest weapon the carom ball to get the last wicket – Morne Morkel bowled. The off-spinner handed Virat Kohli his first home Test series win as captain.

Ashwin took 12 wickets in the match and picked up career best figures of 7/66 in the second innings. The Chennai lad is also the highest wicket taker in 2015 in Tests.

India won the third Test by 124 runs and attained an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.

4. Movie Review: Ranbir & Deepika Sizzle but Tamasha Falls Flat

If you think you are having a bad day spare a thought for dear Katrina Kaif! To see your own boyfriend’s electrifying chemistry with his ex! Oh the horror! Well, be glad that Tamasha has finally released.

Let’s get it over and done with because seeing Ranbir and Deepika on every show, on every channel, all the time talking about “our film releases on November 27th” has to stop right? Hopefully it ends here!

5. Angered by 26/11 This Filmmaker Went to Pak to Look for Answers

When Hemal Trivedi lost a friend in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, she couldn’t make sense of the tragedy that struck so close home. So, instead of merely joining a candle march protest or resuming life anew from the next day like most of us did, the 30-year-old embarked on a journey to Pakistan to look for answers.

6. In the Time of Devendra Fadnavis, Will the Dance Bar Ban Ever Go?

The Supreme Court directed the Maharashtra government on 26 November 2015, to act upon all the new dance bar license requests within the next two weeks. The apex court had earlier, on 15 October, stayed a law passed by the Maharashtra assembly banning dance bars. But it seems CM Devendra Fadnavis is adamant about finding out a way to retain the ban.

Shabnam Raj takes us inside the life and struggles of a bar dancer.

7. Bruce Lee, Thank You for Kung Fu and Some Great Jokes

The Quint decided to move away from the conventional – discussions about how he beat the living daylights out of Chris Norris on screen – and focus instead on how he Inadvertant-Lee provided much comic relief to us all in India, over the years. Bruce Lee fits perfectly the bill of India’s Funny-Lee or, as we’d call him in Hindi... Hass-Lee!

Celebrating his birthday alongwith Bruce Lee is the disco king, Bappi Lahiri, who turned 62 today. Read The Quint’s special piece on the musical legend here.

Ringo users can call any landline or mobile in the country at a flat rate of 19 p/min, without any additional charges like roaming, STD or top-up cards.
