A video of United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah and cadres of the rebel group celebrating Rongali Bihu deep in the forests of Myanmar has now emerged. The Quint is in exclusive possession of a copy of the video.

The footage, which was shot sometime in mid-April, shows the ULFA(I) cadres dressed in camouflage trousers, silk kurtas and the traditional Assamese gamocha. The rebels, some of whom are armed and wearing battle fatigues, can be seen dancing.

Women and children are also seen in the footage. It cannot be confirmed, however, if they are cadres or family members of the cadres.

In recent years, ULFA(I) and NSCN(K) have been working closely in running camps and coordinating attacks.

In recent years, during Bihu celebrations in Assam, ULFA(I) has been issuing diktats for singers and organisers against singing Hindi songs and ordering them to perform only Assamese songs.
