The Congress, along with 17 opposition parties, have picked Meira Kumar as their candidate for the coming presidential elections. She was selected in a meeting headed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the presence of party leaders from the 17 parties in support.
Meira Kumar is pitted against the NDA's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.
