Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, 12 February, rejected the CAG report on Rafale, dubbing it "Chowkidar Auditor General" report.
"CAG report is a worthless report. I would term is as a 'Chowkidar Auditor General report'. It is Narendra Modi's report, written for the chowkidar, on behalf of the chowkidar, for the chowkidar, by the chowkidar," he said.
His attack further extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who he called Anil Ambani’s middleman.
While addressing the media, Rahul Gandhi read an e-mail sent by an Airbus executive which stated that:
“For info, just had C Salomon (advisor JY Le Drian, attended the meeting on Monday) on the phone. A Ambani visited the ministers’ office (Mallet, Salomon, Bouquot) this week (confidential and planned as you can imagine with very short notice). Told them he intends to work with AH on commercial helos and then on defence. Mentioned a MoU in preparation and the intention to sign during the PM visit. Told him that on our side we are checking the right way forward, there are other potential partners. Suggest we send him a short note about our position.”
He proceeded to demand a criminal investigation as he claimed that if Narendra Modi had told Anil Ambani about the deal, it was a breach of the Official Secrets Act.
