1. Vijay Mallya Arrested Again, Gets Bail Within Minutes

Liquor baron Vijay Mallya was reportedly arrested in London in the ongoing money laundering case, but was granted bail minutes after the arrest.

This is the second time this year the business tycoon has been arrested in the United Kingdom, even as the trial of his extradition process is being heard by a UK court. He was arrested in April 2017, but released only a few hours later.

2. Honeypreet, Ram Rahim’s Adopted Daughter, in Police Custody

Honeypreet Insan, the ‘adopted daughter’ of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, is finally in custody of the Haryana Police after being on the run for almost 40 days. She had been on the list of 43 persons 'wanted' by the Haryana Police in connection with the probe into the self-styled godman’s activities.

Convicted of raping two disciples, the Dera Sacha Sauda chief is currently serving a 20-year jail term. The Delhi High Court, on 26 September, dismissed the transit anticipatory bail plea of Honeypreet Insan.

3. Amit Shah Blames Kerala CM Vijayan for Kannur Violence

BJP chief Amit Shah on Tuesday, 3 October, announced a two-week 'padyatra' against the CPI(M) allegedly targeting his party's workers.

Addressing a rally in Kannur, Kerala, Shah said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was responsible for the violence in the state. BJP workers were victims of "political murders," he added.

4. Three Militants Killed After BSF Srinagar Camp Attack, Operation Ends

One BSF jawan has been martyred, and at least two others injured after suspected militants attempted a ‘fidayeen’ (suicide) attack on the BSF 182 Battalion camp near Srinagar airport early on Tuesday, 3 October.

Apart from the BSF personnel, one policeman was also injured. Three militants were gunned down in retaliatory firing.

5. Las Vegas Shooting: 59 Dead, Police Recover 42 Guns

At least 59 people were killed in Las Vegas after a gunman opened fire at an outdoor concert crowd in the Mandalay Bay Casino area. Terror outfit ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack that has injured over 400 people. The gunman, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, killed himself before security forces could enter his hotel room.

The Quint did a simple experiment to gauge the state of access to proper sanitation in urban spaces. We mapped all the accessible toilets 15 km from India Gate, around Noida Sector 18 and Nithari village. The results were far from satisfactory.
