With the date of the Presidential Elections nearing, NDA candidate Ram Nath Kovind and joint opposition nominee Meira Kumar have begun their campaigns by seeking support from MLAs. While Kovind addressed a meeting of TRS leaders in Hyderabad, Kumar met leaders in Kolkata.

Kovind reiterated that he would work for the all-round development of the nation, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or geographical situations. Kumar on her part, stuck to promises of dedicating herself for the uplift of the socially weaker sections.

Kovind added that ever since taking office as the Governor of Bihar, he has worked in a non-partisan manner, and would continue to keep the position of President above the party. Squashing allegations of being a biased speaker, Kumar stated that leaders of both the opposition and leading parties appreciated her role as the speaker.
