The Shahid-Deepika starrer Padmavati has been caught amid raging controversies!

The production house has “voluntarily” deferred the release of the already-much-maligned film. But protests, threats and debates continue.

CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi at IFFI, Goa, finally broke his silence on the movie. He said that the board is looking to find a resolution to the controversy through dialogue and trying to expedite the release of the film.

Shahid Kapoor, who was attending the inauguration ceremony of the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, has appealed again to people to give Padmavati a chance before judging it. The actor has reiterated that there’s nothing in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film that’s in bad taste – referring perhaps to the alleged dream sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji.

Our constitution says that you are innocent until proven guilty. Same should be extended to Padmavati... I don’t think there is anything in the film that is unacceptable or that is not in good taste. Eventually, Padmavati will come out, and in full force.

The actor also condemned the death threats issued against co-star Deepika Padukone in strong terms, while hoping that the film would release soon.

The Supreme Court has rejected a plea to stop the release of the film, saying that it falls in the territory of the CBFC.

The court said, “We can’t interfere with CBFC’s work”.
