1. CBI Raids Indira Jaising, Anand Grover’s Homes for Alleged FCRA Violation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday, 11 July, raided the Mumbai and Delhi homes of senior SC advocates Indira Jaising and Anand Grover, over alleged violations of the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act 2010 (FCRA), and the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (PC Act).

The raids are currently underway, ANI reported. Jaising has, meanwhile, given a statement to the media saying she and her husband Grover are being targeted for their ‘human rights work over the years.’

2. BJP MLA Denies Posing ‘Threat’ to Daughter for Marrying Dalit Man

The daughter of an Uttar Pradesh BJP legislator asked the police for security, alleging that her father could likely harm her because she married a Dalit man.

Sakshi Misra (23), who is the daughter of Rajesh Misra, the MLA from Bithari Chainpur in Bareilly district, uploaded a video on social media on Wednesday, 10 July, and informed about her wedding to Ajitesh Kumar (29).

3. Karnataka Political Crisis Continues

The Supreme Court allowed rebel MLAs to appear before the Karnataka Speaker by 6 pm and asked the Speaker to decide on the resignations today itself. The Speaker then moved SC seeking quashing of the order saying it cannot pass such an order in the first place.

4. Ayodhya Land Dispute: SC Hearing From 25 July ‘If Mediation Fails’

The Supreme Court on Thursday, 11 July, asked the mediation panel headed by Justice FMI Kalifulla to inform the court of the status of mediation by 18 July, in the Ayodhya land dispute case.

The court further said that if the panel’s report indicates that the dispute cannot be solved through mediation, the matter will be heard by the apex court on a day-to-day basis starting 25 July.

The matter was heard by a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
