The Apollo 11 Contingency lunar sample bag, which was once used by Neil Armstrong to collect the first ever dust samples on the moon, goes up for auction on 20 July, at Sotheby's Space Exploration, New York. The bag, which is the only item available for private ownership, is expected to fetch over 4 million dollars (Rs 27 crore) at the auction.

The sale is a part of Sotheby's Space Exploration auction and includes artifacts from both Soviet- and US -led space programs. The auction marks the 48th anniversary of the spacecraft’s moon landing.
