Given the extraordinary success of the animated comedy film Despicable Me and its spin-off Minions, a volunteer rescuer from Si Racha, Thailand, decided to remodel his ambulance and decorate it with Minions to give his vehicle a more cheerful vibe.

Footage shot in the coastal town on Thursday showed the owner of the ambulance, Nirand Leesuwan, showing off the all-new interior of his first-aid ride. So why has he elected to festoon his ambulance with the little yellow characters?

How do Minions relate to first-aid? It’s because Minions are memorable. Patients remember their voices and what they look like. They remember them from the movie. That’s why we use Minions.

The yellow bean-shaped creatures dominate every bit of the ambulance, from stickers on the walls to stuffed toys sitting on the stretchers and hanging from the roof with all the medical equipment!

Leesuwan said that Minions relate to first-aid because they are unforgettable. Perhaps it’s a tactic to distract patients from their injury or ailment?

Whether it does or not, it’s not the first time Leesuwan has taken this tack. The volunteer local has a history of trying to liven up the ambulance experience. Back in August, he became known to surely bemused locals for driving around town with an ambulance featuring Japanese cartoon character Doraemon – an ever-smiling robotic cat, who is a cultural icon much like Hello Kitty.

Would you like to be escorted to hospital by a bunch of minions? We honestly don’t know. Let us know in the comments!
