Caroline Marks, a 15-year-old, has entered the record books, after becoming the youngest ever rookie to win at the World Surfing League Championships.

As many as 96 women from all over America flocked to Melbourne, to compete in the annual surfing competition, which began on 18 January and lasted until 24 January 2018.

Marks’ competitors may have never envisaged being beaten by a 15-year-old girl.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Caroline Marks pipped her opponents to an $55,500 prize-fund, winning over the judges with her sensational surf-skills and her fun, charming and laid-back style.

The Florida Pro featured a WOMEN'S QS 6000 competition, along with a MEN'S QS 1500 competition.

Tipped to be the world’s newest surfing phenomenon by those in the surfing industry, Marks has amassed a cult following of 30,000 followers on Instagram, and will be taking part in the first ever Woman’s Surfing League Championship on the Gold Coast of Australia.

Delighted with her unprecedented victory, Caroline said: “I didn’t even expect to get on the tour, but now that I’m here, I really feel like I belong.”

Caroline is going to be the only rookie on the upcoming World Surf League's women's Championship Tour, which features the world's top 17 female surfers. The tour kicks off on 11 March, with the Roxy Pro Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, and includes contests in Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, California, France and Hawaii.
