Maharashtra Assembly elections are right around the corner! Who will emerge victorious and reign in the state? A good way to gauge the electoral mood is to travel in the Maharashtra State Transportation Bus.

We took the bus from the Panvel bus depot to Pune to learn what the people of Maharashtra have to say about the upcoming elections.

As part of The Quint’s election coverage, we spoke to the people to understand if they are happy with the work done by the ruling Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government.

Pune’s ML Joshi works in a hospital and is of the opinion that in the Vadgaon area, a lot of development has been done. Good work is being done in building gardens and the metro, he says.

Joshi’s wife Vishakha is a housewife and believes that great work is being done in her locality, however, there is a pressing need to improve the condition of the roads.

She adds that there is also a need to address women safety as not enough work is being done by the government for the same.

Pune resident Varsha Pagare keeps travelling to Panvel for work. She says that there has been high inflation during the tenure of the Fadnavis government. The train ticket is cheap, however, travelling via state bus is very expensive, she adds.

BM Gadekar, meanwhile, explains that the government has worked as per expectations, however, there is scope for more work to be done. Speedy work needs to be done to eradicate unemployment, he adds.

“The CM had said a plan would be drawn to curb water shortage so that water reaches everyone. The public hopes the government will make good provisions for water, reduce disorder and along with that, help farmers to get a good price for their produce in the market. It would be good if the government works for the youth and for farmers.”
