2. Section 377 Violates Human Rights: Mukul Rohatgi Tells SC

A Constitution bench of Supreme Court began hearing the pleas seeking the scrapping of Section 377 of the IPC which criminalises homosexuality on Tuesday, 10 July.

The Supreme Court on Monday had refused to adjourn the hearing by a five-judge Constitution bench despite the Centre seeking more time to file its response on the PILs on gay sex.

The hearing is on a batch of petitions challenging the SC’s verdict that had re-criminalised consensual carnal acts between two adults.

3. Mumbai Rains: NDRF, Coast Guard Asked to Help Stranded Passengers

Mumbaikars experienced heavy rainfall in the early hours of Tuesday, 10 July. The IMD has predicted heavy showers will continue till Wednesday, 11 July.

The Western Railways announced that it would be making arrangements for food and water for passengers left stranded, due to the regulation of several long distance trains, as a cause of waterlogging in various parts of the city.

Ace hockey player Sandeep Singh was shot with a bullet while he was traveling in a train 12 years ago, after which the hockey player was paralysed for 2 years. But his determination and love for the game brought him back and he won several medals for our country. Soorma is a story inspired by him and directed Shaad Ali.

While talking to Diljit we realised how shocking it was for him to discover that hockey is in fact, not our national game. He even spoke about the intense training he had to go through to get his hockey skills right.
