1. Kejriwal’s Apology Fallout: Bhagwant Mann Quits as AAP Punjab Head

Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann on Friday, 16 March, resigned as the Aam Aadmi Party's Punjab chief, a day after party supremo Arvind Kejriwal's apology to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia drew flak from state unit leaders.

Mann announced his decision to resign on Twitter.

Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal had on Thursday, 15 March, tendered an apology to former Punjab minister Majithia for levelling charges of involvement in the drug trade against him.

In his apology, Kejriwal had said he had learnt that his allegations were “unfounded”.

2. Irrfan Khan Diagnosed With Neuroendocrine Tumour

Actor Irrfan Khan had earlier tweeted that he was suffering from a rare disease and that he would communicate more about it later. Now he has shared that he has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour. He admitted that coming to terms with it has not been easy but with the love and support of his family, he is in a place of hope. He is going out of the country for treatment

Irrfan also said that googling should reveal more information about the disease than idle speculation.

3. TDP Pulls Out of NDA, Opposition Welcomes Move

In a blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) broke ties with the NDA on Friday, 16 March.

The TDP also moved a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha on Friday, in the backdrop of the Centre’s refusal to grant special category to the state.

The TDP is likely to move a no confidence motion on Monday. All the major opposition parties including Congress, TMC, and CPI (M) have welcomed and extended support too TDP's decision.

4. Over 600 GoAir, IndiGo Flights Cancelled: All You Need to Know

Passengers are likely to face harrowing times with IndiGo and GoAir deciding to cancel more than 600 flights this month – of which 488 are by IndiGo alone – following the grounding of 11 Airbus 320neo planes with faulty Pratt & Whitney (P&W) engines.

The cancellations by the two budget carriers, which operate more than 1,200 flights daily on average, may significantly disrupt the summer schedule.

There was no immediate clarity about the way possible compensation and alternative choices would be made available to the passengers already having tickets.

5. Minutes After Conviction For Trafficking, Daler Mehndi Gets Bail

On Friday, popular Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi was sentenced to two years in prison after being convicted in a human trafficking case of 2003 by the Patiala court. The singer was also almost immediately granted bail by the court soon after. The singer had been accused of illegally dropping off people abroad during his international concerts and tours.

Speaking to the media outside the Patiala court, Mehndi said that he would fight the case in a higher court.
