1. Now, Kanwariyas Vandalise Police Car in Bulandshahr, Assault Youth
A day after a group of Kanwariyas vandalised a car and toppled it over in the national capital, a similar incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr. The ruckus took place in Bulandshahr’s Narsena area on Tuesday, 7 August.
According to ANI, Pappu, a Kanwar, was accused of eve-teasing by the victim Deepu, who had filed a complaint against him in Narsena Police Station. Pappu reportedly went to confront Deepu with his fellow Kanwar friends, and roughed him up. When police tried to nab them, they vandalised the cop car.
Ten accused have been named in the complaint filed in the Bugarsi Police Station in Bulandshahr district.

2. NDA Candidate Harivansh Singh Elected RS Deputy Chairman
NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh was elected the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman with 125 votes on Thursday, 9 August. The Opposition candidate BK Hariprasad managed to get 105 votes.
Soon after the election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Singh, who is an MP from the Janata Dal (United).
The Aam Aadmi Party, PDP and YSRCP decided to abstain from voting.
Reacting to the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman election, in which the NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh scored a victory over Opposition's BN Harisprasad, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi said, "Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose."

3. Govt Doesn’t Appoint 27 Judges, Dodges Questions from Tharoor
In a startling revelation, the Ministry for Law and Justice has revealed that 27 recommendations from the Supreme Court Collegium (for appointment of judges to the High Courts and Supreme Court) are currently pending with the Centre.
The Ministry’s statement comes as a response to an unstarred question by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Kriti Sanon’s latest shoot as the cover girl for Cosmopolitan India’s August issue has been earning her a lot of brickbats. Pictures of her against the prop of a giraffe hanging from the ceiling quickly sparked a controversy online with social media users commenting on how disturbing the portrayal is.
