In a heart-wrenching video, now viral on social media, an infant is seen, desperately clinging on to his dead mother, in an attempt to breastfeed. The woman was found dead next to the railway track at Damoh, Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, the woman is suspected to have died after falling off a train or getting hit by one. She might have been conscious for a short span where she tried to save her baby by feeding him.

She was bleeding from the nose and ears. We have sent a notice and hope to find some relatives.

The police just found a small purse with a little money and a receipt from a jewellery store in Tikamgarh district.

When the Child Welfare Committee workers brought the kid to the hospital, the civil surgeon was not present. They refused to take him in unless Rs 10 was paid for the admission. It is unfortunate that such a big hospital does not have even basic arrangements.

In yet another instance of medical apathy, officials at the government hospital refused to take the kid in as there was no one to pay Rs 10 for the admission. Finally, a ward boy by the name of Tarun Tiwari payed the fee.

Meanwhile, the woman’s body has been shifted to a mortuary for the postmortem and the child welfare committee is shifting the kid to a private orphanage.
