In a scene reminiscent of the popular TV series Prison Break, a thief escaped from a police station in Gujarat’s Bharuch District, after breaking through its iron girdles in the wee hours of Monday.

CCTV footage from the police station in Jhagadia shows Ram Prakash Bindu attempting to escape from a broken portion of the metal grill, with the help of another inmate.

Bindu squeezed his body through the narrow window, while the other inmate first attempted a jump and later took a step back, only to feign sleep immediately after.

Police say Bindu escaped while the station officers were away at a local temple, where a fire had broken out. He was arrested from Surat, on charges of stealing television sets from an electronic store.

Bindu is on the run and all exit points around Bharuch have been put on high alert.
