How many donuts can you eat in one minute? A world record was set in Santa Monica, California recently, when Joey Chestnut ate 55 donuts in 8 minutes.
Ten participants competed in the World Donut Eating Championship, including some members of the Major League Eating circuit, but Chestnut beat his own mark of 49 donuts to be crowned champion of the event. He won $2,000 prize (Rs 1,28,670) for the feat.
“Next time I think I'll tear the doughnuts in half and dunk, dunk one while I am eating the other,” Chestnut told reporters after the event.
The contest was organised by the Salvation Army to pay tribute to the World War I Salvation Army volunteers who prepared donuts and other food items for soldiers during the war.
