A man who was carrying his mother's coffin up a bamboo ladder at her funeral in Sulawesi, Indonesia, was crushed by it, when the coffin plummeted to the floor. The ladder unexpectedly collapsed, causing the casket to come crashing down.
Samen Kondorura was one of the pallbearers at his mother’s funeral. The 40-year-old fell off the ladder and was crushed by the coffin.
The casket was hoisted onto a lakkian, which is an ornately carved tower where the deceased, in Indonesia are placed before traditional funeral proceedings take place.

Horrified onlookers rushed to the man's aid. However, Kondorura succumbed to his injuries in the hospital later.
Sirait said the accident happened because the ladder had not been properly reinforced. However, the family has declined to press any charges.
The body of Kondorura now rests alongside his mother Berta.
